Reclaim Your Holidays! Tip Two

Tip 2

If you are on any social media sites like Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest, then you are already being inundated with all of the holiday events available in your local area.

In Utah we have The Festival of Trees, a great event and all proceeds go to a good cause.  There's sledding events, Christmas parties, cookie exchange parties, holiday markets, gift exchanges, new movie releases, concerts, the kid's performances and the list goes on and on and on.

Guess what?  You don't have to attend ALL of them.

When choosing your holiday events keep the following things in mind.
What is most important to me?  Family?  Friends?  Is this something that will make my holiday special or more stressful?   Just choose a few and make your best effort to attend and if you decide to stay home, then stay home with no guilt!

I recently took a class that taught the art of saying "NO".  We actually practiced saying the word with other people!  It was quite empowering.  Learning to connect the word with how it makes you feel when you say it made me realize how many times I agree to doing things I can't or don't want to because I don't want to hurt other's feelings.  Many times we agree to things we shouldn't and then we attend with half a heart, wondering why we agreed to come in the first place.  Own your "NO" and own it without guilt.  Say "YES" to events and requests only if it is a "HELL YES".

Enjoy this season and reclaim the beautiful spirit of the holidays.
