Reclaiming My Life

Soooo...losing a loved one is tough, tough, tough!  "I do NOT recommend it" is now what I say when people ask how things are going.  I struggled for a while not knowing what to say and this is the best I could come up with.  So many things come into play when one dies and you are left picking up the pieces.  I have found myself slowly reclaiming my life...I have to, right?  When you look at the other options, moving forward is the only thing I know how to I choose to do it though is mine to own.

Today is six months.  SIX long months of slow recovery.  I've seen people re-marry in six months and I don't get it.  No judgement if you do, but I can't wrap my head around it.

I still miss him, see the pain in my children's eyes, accepting that he was a WAY better parent than I am, that the kids went to him for everything and I know when I get frustrated with them that they WISH he was here.  Parenting is tough enough when there are two of you, but now it's just me and at times that is overwhelming.

I can tell you that a death of a husband is survivable.  I have grown stronger in my faith which I'm grateful for.  I feel extra gratitude in my heart this season for my Savior and I pray that my kids feel this love for Him as well.  It has been my saving grace.

One thing that is helping this Christmas season is knowing my sweet husband is celebrating Christmas on the other side.   I am excited for him because he served God and Jesus his whole life and now he'll be there participating and witnessing it first hand.
That thought brings me comfort.

This is the season to do do good.

Pray for ways you can help others because through our service towards others is how we survive hard things.  There is always someone struggling worse than we are.

Do the simple things

Hug your kids
Let your family know you them you love them
Treat your spouse with respect and dignity and let them know they are loved
Bite your tongue when the mean thoughts come
Communicate better
Serve others
Open your heart to God
Be Humble
Treat Yourself
