Farmer's Market

The Downtown Farmers Market in Salt Lake City never disappoints.  It's one of my most favorite markets to attend during the summer and fall months in Utah.

I was excited to meet Carrie de Azevedo, a local crafter who makes these beautiful wool felt garlands.  She hunts for old wool sweaters that have shrunk in the wash and sometimes dyes them for an added richness in color.  She crafts all kinds of things out of the wool and her booth was adorable!  You can follow her on Instagram:  slcqueenbee

The produce selection is amazing and the beautiful colors and smells of fresh fruit make your eyes happy & your mouth drool.

Fresh cut flowers, herbs and plants are plentiful at the market

This bakery was my favorite...the selection was huge and they had the best baked goods I've seen in a long time!  You can find this and more at Pierre Country Bakery
I love these cute photo holders upcycled from old finnials.

Things Moms Say

Here's a list of those things we swore we never say (but do) or...
8 Scientific Reasons Your Kids Hate You
The Illogical:
  1. Don't look at me with those eyes.
  2. Children are to be seen, not heard.
  3. If you keep making that face, it'll freeze that way.
  4. If you want to act like a child, I'll treat you like one.
  5. Quiet down, I can't even hear myself think.
  6. One day you'll thank me.
  7. Because I said so, that's why!
The Logical:
  1. As long as you're under my roof, you live by my rules.
  2. God gave you a brain, use it.
  3. Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.
The Sarcastic:
  1. Are your legs broken?
  2. If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you?
  3. Oh, Jen's mom lets her do (Blank), fine, go live with Jen's mom ... I'll help you pack.
  4. Shut the door, were you born in a barn?
  5. Your room looks like a cyclone ran through it.
  6. Talking to you is like talking to a brick wall.
  7. Let's play the quiet game
  8. Someone better be bleeding.
  9. Where are your manners -- were you raised by wolves?
The Threatening:
  1. I'm not asking, I'm telling.
  2. When you have kids, I hope they're just like you.
  3. Don't you use that tone with me Mister/Missy.
  4. Stop crying or I'll give you something to cry about.
  5. You better wipe that look off your face.
  6. Don't make me: tell you again / come back there / turn this car around, et al.

What Happens at Retreats?

I don't know what the other guys do at their retreats, but I can tell you for sure that...

Trust me.  I've been asked.  What do a bunch of women DO at a retreat?  What is a Reclaim Retreat?  Well here are a few Will Do and Will Not Do's that will explain what happens at MY retreats.

There will be NO singing of Kumbaya...ever.

There will be lots of laughing.  Maybe some peeing of the pants.  Definitely some snorts.

There will NOT be much sleep.
If you need lots of sleep, this may not be the retreat for you.

There WILL be lots of crafting...I mean lots! The best part?  I provide all the craft supplies!  There is a craft store within driving distance in case you want MORE crafts.

There will NOT be singing of the Christmas carols.
Unless you want to.

There WILL be shopping.

There is no weirdness.  No hanky panky.  Just women.  Women who need a time out and a break from the mundane.  A chance to get ahead on the Christmas game and get some projects done, start that Christmas list and not feel insane at a time of the year when we need peace the most.

The women you meet WILL be amazing.  They always are.  I don't know how and I don't know why but we ALL leave feeling connected and our cups are filled and we can go back to our routines with a smile and a pep in our steps.  We can give more and keep going some more.

So why wouldn't you give this a try?  Why wouldn't anyone?  I don't know.  Maybe your worried about the unknown?  Maybe putting yourself out there isn't your favorite thing to do?  Making new friends has never been easy?  Being brave is hard?  It's true.  It's hard for everyone but it only takes one try and I promise your life will be changed for good.

Join me in November.
